Information You Send
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search box is sent to the third-party result provider. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains only the information supplied in that message and is used to respond.
Automatic Information
Hosting systems may log an IP address, browser details, pages requested, and time of request. We use aggregated log information to operate and improve the service. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or similar technology.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate the site, answer a message, diagnose security or technical issues, understand aggregate use, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell a visitor’s direct message or search entry as a resident record.
Links and Other Services
Lowell Residents Directory links to government offices, libraries, and third-party search tools. Each outside service has its own privacy terms, data collection practices, availability, and policies. Review the policy of the service before providing information there.
Who Can Receive Data
Providers that host or support the service can process ordinary server data on our behalf. Analytics and advertising providers can receive automatic information described here. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it.
Security Practices
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures for the limited information we hold. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, so visitors should avoid sending sensitive identifiers through an ordinary message.
Visitors Under 18
The service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child supplied information may contact us to request deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information that we hold by using the Contact page. Massachusetts public records held by the City of Lowell, Middlesex North Registry, the courts, or another custodian are outside our control. Requests concerning those records belong with the office that created them. Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, governs access to existing public records; it is not a request to remove an accurate government record.
Policy Updates
We may revise this policy by posting the updated version here. Continued use after posting means the revised policy applies.
